Labor Day fire rips through Danbury auto body shop
DANBURY — Fire ripped through the eaves of a city auto body shop for 20 minutes before city firefighters knocked down the Labor Day blaze.
“There was heavy smoke showing from all the eaves,” Danbury Deputy Fire Chief Joe Halas said. “We did an aggressive interior attack and finished the knockdown from right there.”
The fire at C and S Auto & Truck Repair on Shelter Rock Road was reported shortly after 5 p.m.
No one was in the building because it is a holiday, and no firefighters were injured.
It was not immediately clear how much damage the building suffered and how many vehicles inside the garage were damaged.
Char-colored smoke patterns could be seen above the front bay doors of the building.
A cause was not immediately known.
