False bank robbery alarm at Stamford Government Center
STAMFORD — Over a dozen police officers, some equipped with riot shields and rifles, responded to a false alarm that went off at the Stamford Federal Credit Union on the sixth floor of Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.
“The hold up alarm was set off accidentally,” Lt. Gene Dohmann said around 2:50 p.m. Monday once authorities deemed there was no visible threat. “We responded when the alarm was set off.”
People in the Government Center lobby were surprised at the amount of officers — more than a dozen — that descended on the scene.
“The bank followed protocol and called the dispatch center,” Dohmann said, adding that there was no validity to the alarm.
