Darien forecast: Nice start to holiday weekend
The Columbus Day holiday weekend starts today on a mostly sunny note, according to the National Weather Service, but there is a chance of showers this evening.
Under those sunny skies, the daytime high temperature in southwestern Connecticut is expected to rise to the mid-70s with a southwest wind 5 to 11 mph. There is a 30 percent chance of precipitation after 5 p.m.
Tonight should be partly cloudy, with the temperature dipping to a low around 45 degrees, with a northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.
On Sunday, showers are likely, mainly after 1 p.m., the NWS says. Skies will be cloudy and the temperature will rise to a high only in the mid-50s. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Nighttime showers are also likely as the temperature registers a low in the low-40s.
Monday, observed as the Columbus Day holiday, will be mostly sunny, with a high temperature in the upper-50s. Monday night should be mostly clear, with a low temperature about 40 degrees.
The outlook for Tuesday, according to the weather service, is sunny and temperatures in the low-60s.
