Newcomers Club to hold New Canaan Holiday House Tour
The New Canaan Holiday House Tour, organized by the Newcomers Club of New Canaan, will run from Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Six spectacular homes — from modern and antique farmhouse to traditional and new build — have been styled by local designers, contractors, and volunteers with holiday themes distinctive to the homes.
Ticket holders will be invited to tour the homes in an open house style format and, for the first time, will have the opportunity to view two extensive car collections on that Saturday. Standard tickets are $95 ($85 for senior citizens) with a separate $50 car experience ticket (for Saturday only). Tickets may be purchased in advance at newcanaannewcomers.com/purchase-tickets. $125 standard tickets may be purchased on days of the tour at the Carriage Barn Arts Center, Waveny Park (681 South Avenue, New Canaan). All proceeds from the Holiday House Tour will benefit local charitable organizations. A video providing a glimpse of the homes can be found at https://tinyurl.com/yyx8yun6.
The Holidays at Windcrest Farm
This antique home and property, dating back to the 1700s, has been expanded and modernized for today's living. The design features an eclectic yet casual elegance and highlights many of its original details. The home was styled by Michael Canoro, owner of Eastman Interiors, who showcases a classic design, reflecting a unique holiday spirit to match the home’s eclectic design. With an extensive car collection, this home will be featured within the VIP car tour experience on Dec. 7.
The STAR House
This new build has been designed with the needs in mind of the homeowners, a young family with a son diagnosed with cerebral palsy. It showcases modern design featuring natural materials throughout. Styled by Kate Ferguson of Palomino Bazaar, the home brings to life a star theme through simple, modern touches, highlighting the new home’s architecture and natural elements. The star theme was chosen to honor the family’s involvement in the nonprofit, Norwalk-based STAR, which offers a full array of services for over 500 individuals with disabilities and their families, from birth to their senior years.
Haute for the Holidays
This beautiful custom-designed modern farmhouse built by the homeowner’s family features industrial design, clean lines, and a wonderful balance of indoor/outdoor living. The home was styled by the Design Dot team, including Megan Wunderlich, Samantha King, and Debbie Jackson. The holiday decor features neutral elements of the home, combined with understated but electric holiday design. Pale greens, blues, snowy whites are highlighted with oranges and yellows to serve as unexpected bright bursts of colors.
The Caroling Inn
One of New Canaan’s most prominent and beloved historic homes, this 1898-built stucco Colonial is over 120 years old and rich in history. The three-story home, which once served as an inn, is a holdover from the “old” South Avenue, with its beautiful columned wraparound porch that used to overlook farmland. The designers are Cindy Levi and Terrance Rhodes from Lillian August, who feature a traditional New England Christmas theme while incorporating twists of color for an added pop.
This stately 15,000-square-foot handcrafted brick chateau captures the best of European elegance. This home features contemporary design, an impressive Latin American art collection, and a subterranean garage with an extensive car collection. Carey Karlan from Last Detail Interior Design styled the home. With a car collection ranging from one-of-a-kind antiques to the latest in exotic cars, this home will be featured within the VIP car tour experience on Dec. 7.
A Season on Pointe
This in-town oasis is a New England shingle style home with a beautifully designed transitional aesthetic. Lora Gray from Gray Interiors styled the home, taking inspiration from a traditional holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, which takes center stage during the holidays. The Nutcracker theme was chosen to reflect the family’s interest in dance and the joy the annual holiday ballet brings to New Canaan.
Since 1957, the Newcomers Club of New Canaan has been dedicated to helping new residents connect with each other and get involved in the local community. The organization plans a wide range of offerings including fun social events, family and children's activities.
