Brooke Heron has been named new head coach of the Greenwich girls ice hockey team athletic director Gus Lindine announced Tuesday morning.
Last season, Heron was a varsity assistant coach at Darien after spending two years as a varsity assistant coach at Wilton.
As a student-athlete at The Westminister School, Heron was captain of the ice hockey team and was a two-time New England champion.
Heron continued playing hockey at Trinity College where she was named captain of the team, leading Trinity to the 2015 NESCAC Championship, the first NESCAC title in school history.
Heron is replacing Alex Lerchen, who resigned at the end of last season after seven years as head coach, posting a record of 86-45-12.
The Cardinals won two FCIAC titles (2017 and 2018) under Lerchen.
