There are a few dance studios that offer salsa classes in Connecticut. Ballroom Elegance Dance Studio in Westport offers introductory 45-minute private ballroom dance lessons for first-time dancers along with social ballroom dancing, showcases and competitions for more advanced dancers. Hartford Ballroom hosts multiple ballroom dance classes a week with pop-up workshops throughout the month. Line dancing is a type of country-Western dance that takes places in a line and requires dancers to move to a choreographed dance pattern. Dance Country CT in Gales Ferry offers beginner line dancing classes, line dancing classes for seniors and partner pattern dancing classes along with open dance nights, potlucks and other line dancing events. Newington’s parks and rec department also offers country line dancing classes. Vinnie’s Jump and Jive in Middletown offers beginner line dancing classes on Mondays, according to the studio’s website. Dance on the DL is a Darien dance studio that offers beginner hip-hop classes for adults. These classes require no previous experience and focus on breaking down every step to create “a high-energy, fun and engaging routine designed to build stamina and increase musicality,” according to its website. The Station Dance Academy in Newtown offers adult beginner and intermediate hip hop classes on a semester-long or drop-in basis. Locust Performing Arts Center of Connecticut also offers adult hip hop classes with multiple instructors throughout the year.
