Andrea Bocelli to perform at Bridgeport’s Total Mortgage Arena in December

The Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport was the site of the 2022 Bridgeport Regional arm of the NCAA women’s basketball Sweet 16 and Elite Eight tournaments this past March. But at the end of the year, the arena will be filled, not with basketball fans, but opera fans. Italian opera star Andrea Bocelli is scheduled to perform.

The tenor will be stopping at the Bridgeport arena on Sunday, Dec. 11 as part of his “Andrea Bocelli in Concert” tour. The performance will feature songs from his “Believe” album, in addition to some arias, love songs and holiday music, according to the event listing. Bocelli has released a number of live and studio albums, and he has collaborated with several pop artists over the course of his 30-year career. 

In 2018, Bocelli released, “,” an album featuring original songs and duets with artists including Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa and Josh Groban. The following year, he re-released the album with five new songs, including “Return to Love,” featuring Ellie Goulding. Bocelli has sold more than 90 million albums throughout his career, and in 1999, his duet with Celine Dion for the song "The Prayer" in the film "Quest for Camelot" won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Tickets for Bocelli’s Bridgeport show are currently available for presale. Ticketmaster notes that the Andrea Bocelli Foundation will donate $1 of each ticket purchased to go towards “empowering people and communities in situations of poverty, illiteracy, and distress due to illness and social exclusion.”
