Singing comic Tom Anzalone hits all the right off-key notes
Singing comic Tom Anzalone will be performing at the Treehouse Comedy Club at Bistro B in Westport on Saturday, Feb. 2, along with David Rosenblatt from YES and the “Mike Francesa Show,” and Dr. Jay Sutay, a finalist in the Funiest Comic in Connecticut contest.
Classically trained in opera at West Virginia University, Anzalone’s bio has him beginning his career performing in musicals and operas while pursuing his stand-up comedy routine. He appears in comedy clubs, operas, corporate venues, cruise ships, and in schools and private parties as his alter ego, Songflowerman, helping kids love to sing.
With a few simple props, guitar and roll of electrical tape, Anzalone produces quick and quirky musical impersonations of Elvis, Elton, Springsteen and others. But it is off-key creativity that spawns his usual standing ovation. His Springsteen recites the alphabet (to the tune of “Born In The U.S.A.”), while his Pinball Wizard (from the rock opera “Tommy”) is sung, well, opera style.
Treehouse Comedy Club at Cafe Bistro at the Westport Inn, 1595 Post Road East, Westport. 8 p.m. $29.50, $20. Dinner available before show. 203-230-8700, treehousecomedy.com
