Mac-Haydn Theatre announces its 50th season

New productions of “Mamma Mia!,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “The Wedding Singer” will staged this summer in the Mac-Haydn Theatre’s 50th anniversary season, which also includes “Damn Yankees,” “Funny Girl,” “Cabaret” and “Annie.”

The newly announced season for the Chatham theater is listed below.  In addition, Mac-Haydn will stage three children’s productions and its annual end-of-season cabaret.

“Damn Yankees” (May 24 – June 3). Classic baseball musical. Book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop, with music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross.

“Funny Girl” (June 7 – June 17). Musical drama of Fanny Brice on vaudeville. Book by Isobel Lennart, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Bob Merrill.

“Cabaret” (June 21 – July 1. Dramatization of Berlin cabaret scene under rise of the Nazis. Book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.

“Mamma Mia!” (July 5 – July 22). ABBA jukebox musical. Book by Catherine Johnson, music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.

“The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (July 26 – Aug. 5). Based on the Victor Hugo novel. Book by James Lapine and Peter Parnell, music by Alan Mencken and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.

“The Wedding Singer” (Aug. 9 – Aug. 19). Based on the 1998 Adam Sandler film. Book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin.

“Annie” (Aug. 23 – Sept. 2). Based on the comic strip “Little Orphan Annie.” Book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin.
