50 things to do Sept. 5, 6, 7 and 8
There’s all kinds of cool music in Connecticut this weekend, along with captivating films, comedy and a couple festivals, including a huge waterfront party in Norwalk. That would be the 42 annual Norwalk Oyster Festival, featuring food, fun and entertainment Friday through Sunday.
The CT Folk Fest & Green Expo will have more than 50 exhibitors plus live music and children’s activities at New Haven’s Edgerton Park Saturday. Meanwhile The Lords of 52nd Street headline the Danbury Block Party Saturday on Danbury’s CityCenter Green, and the Bethlehem Fair runs Friday through Sunday in Bethlehem; Friday’s headliner is Ultimate Aldean, which pays tribute to country star Jason Aldean.
Another fun gathering — The International Sci Fi Film Festival — features a variety of shorts at The Palace Danbury Friday. They explore everything from dating in the future to the power of a magical potion made from moonlight.
While we’re on the subject of magic, we should mention comedian Leslie Jones is here, too. Although you won’t get to see her on “Saturday Night Live” anymore (she’s opted to leave), she’ll be at College Street Music Hall in New Haven Saturday and at The Bushnell in Hartford on Sunday.
Some options specifically for families with young children include “Peppa Pig’s Adventure,” onstage at Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford Sunday. Also Sunday, Greenwich’s Bruce Museum will host Bruce ConsTRUCKS, featuring trucks and other vehicles for kids to explore, plus performances and crafts for kids, food and more.
