Stop & Shop is looking to fill more than 5,000 jobs across several states in the Northeast, including Connecticut. The grocery chain announced Monday it has thousands of permanent positions available in stores across Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. A spokesman for the chain said 1,000 of the jobs will be located in Connecticut. There are openings in various departments, including bakery, deli, grocery, seafood, produce, front end, night crew and online pickup. The company is also hiring home delivery drivers and shoppers, as well as selectors for its distribution centers. The grocery chain said it has invested more than $121 million in its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic in extended health care and leave benefits, including paid time off for associates who have to quarantine. Anyone interested in applying can do so online.
