'Top Docs' include those at Darien practice
CT Magazine recently sent an annual survey to 5,000 state physicians to the other asking whom they would send a loved one to for medical care. Connecticut residents benefit from some of the finest health care in the nation, ranking No. 4 in doctors per capita and produce and retain some of the most respected health-care practitioners anywhere.
Coastal Orthopaedics, with patients throughout Fairfield and Westchester County, has announced the magazine named three of their surgeons, Drs. Michael M. Lynch, Nicholas V. Polifroni, and Paul D. Protomastro, Top Docs for Orthopaedic Care in 2011. This is the third year in a row that Coastal Orthopaedics physicians have been named to the annual survey.
"Being acclaimed `Top Doc' by one's peers is a special honor," said Richard Lyon, executive director for Coastal Orthopaedics. "Our team of highly-trained physicians specialize in a wide range of orthopaedic excellence," he added. Coastal Orthopaedics has offices in Norwalk, Darien and Westport.
Lynch has been practiced orthopaedics in Connecticut since 1992. This is his third consecutive year to be named a CT Magazine Top Doc. Lynch graduated from Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Medical School. He completed the Harvard combined Orthopaedic Residency Program and a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.
Polifroni has practiced orthopaedics in Connecticut since 1982. This is his third consecutive year to be named a CT Magazine Top Doc. Polifroni graduated from New York Medical College and completed his orthopaedic residency at Lenox Hill Hospital. Polifroni spent additional time at the Institute for Sports Medicine and Athletic Training in New York City and Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, Philadelphia.
Protomastro has practiced orthopaedics in CT since 2001. He attended medical school at Thomas Jefferson Medical College and received his orthopaedic training at the Case Western Reserve University. Protomastro also completed a Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship at Harvard University in 2001.
