Lowe’s is closing a home improvement store in Orange among 20 in the United States and more than 30 in Canada, with the company citing poor profits at those locations.
Lowe’s built the store in 1998 on 15 acres at 48 Boston Post Road at a cost of $8.5 million, according to records on file with Orange, with the town last appraising the 130,000-square-foot property at $11.6 million. It is one of 17 locations in Connecticut, including stores in Danbury, Norwalk, New Haven, Milford, Derby, Newington and Torrington.
