Darien Police name driver in Sunday rollover as nationally syndicated talk show host Steve Wilkos
Wednesday 12:08 p.m. — Darien Police have identified the driver in Monday night's one-car rollover as Steven Wilkos of Darien.
According to the Internet Movie Database, Steve Wilkos is the host of NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution's nationally syndicated series The Steve Wilkos Show. He was formerly featured on The Jerry Springer Show. Reports of Wilkos' accident were featured on TMZ, Page Six, and the Daily Mail Tuesday. Wilkos, a Chicago native. has lived in Darien since 2009 according to the Chicago Tribune.
Darien Police released this account of the accident on Wednesday. On Jan. 21, at approximately 4:20 p.m., an officer on patrol discovered a one-car motor vehicle accident on West Ave. in the area of Turnabout Lane. The officer observed a single vehicle lying on its passenger’s side at the edge of the eastbound lane, and the car appeared to have sustained heavy damage. Based on the scene, it is believed that the vehicle struck several roadside objects on West Ave. before coming to rest.
Due to Wilkos’ injuries and the severity of the accident, he was transported to Stamford Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
At this time, the cause and nature of the accident is under investigation by the Darien Police Department. No further information will be released at this time.
5:18 p.m. Sunday — A single car accident occurred on West Avenue late Sunday afternoon closing the road temporarily.
The car hit several poles and a tree, leaving the car on its side. John Boulton, a West Avenue neighbor and witness to the scene, submitted the above photo to The Darien Times.
Lt. Jeremiah Marron of the Darien Police reports the driver of the car was injured and transported to the hospital.
