The Darien boys lacrosse team posted two wins to begin the season and will put its 56-game win streak on the line when it hosts the Torrey Pines Falcons in a battle of national powers on Friday night.
The boys lacrosse game, the first-ever under the lights at DHS, will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be carried live by the HAN Network.

Career victories for Darien boys lacrosse head coach Jeff Brameier, who is Connecticut’s all-time wins leader. The Wave coach broke the old record of 551, which had been held by New Canaan’s Howard Benedict. Brameier’s record is 574-132, for a winning percentage of .813. Darien kicked off the 2018 campaign with wins at Yorktown 13-11, and Westhill 22-0.

Score of the Torrey Pines Falcons’ win over St. Ignatius of Cleveland, Ohio, in boys lacrosse on Monday. The Falcons, who are 8-0, have travelled cross country to play in Connecticut this weekend.
Score of Darien’s season-opening victory against the Yorktown Huskers on Saturday night. The Wave’s winning streak is currently at 56, now spanning parts of four seasons.
Points for senior co-captain Brian Minicus in Darien’s win over Yorktown. Minicus, who has moved to attack from midfield this season, racked up six goals and four assists to lead the Wave offense.
Faceoff wins for senior Tanner Strub. The performance was key to the Blue Wave’s victory, allowing Darien to lead the possession game against Yorktown.
Consecutive goals scored by Darien in the third quarter after the Huskers had tied the game at 6-6. The run gave the Wave a 12-6 lead heading to the fourth, and they eventually held off a late charge by Yorktown to get the win.
Points for Darien’s Dillon Schoen, a senior midfielder on the Stanford Cardinal women’s lacrosse team. Schoen, a 2014 graduate of DHS, has collected 17 goals and six assists, helping to lead Stanford to records of 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the Pac-12. She also has 14 groundballs and seven caused turnovers. Schoen’s performance includes a hat trick during a 12-11 overtime victory against USC on March 25.
Record of the Gettysburg Bullets women’s lacrosse team, which includes Darien’s Daphne Budd on defense. Budd, a sophomore, has started three games and played in all eight, and has six ground balls and two caused turnovers. The Gettysburg defense has allowed just four goals per game and has not allowed more than six in a game this season. The Bullets are ranked No. 1 in the latest Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Poll.
Assists for freshman attack Anna Stein of the Lafayette College women’s lacrosse team. Stein, a 2017 graduate of DHS, leads the Leopards in helpers and also had three goals to give her 19 points in eight games. She had three assists in Lafayette’s latest victory: A 15-10 decision over Bucknell on March 28. The Leopards are 4-6 so far this season.
Goals for sophomore Chandler Kirby of the Michigan women’s lacrosse team. The former Blue Wave star has played in all 12 games for the Wolverines, who are 5-7 this season. Kirby’s best performance was a four-goal showing during a 14-3 win over Canisius on Feb. 18. She also had a hat trick in Michigan’s 14-7 loss to Towson on Feb. 28.
