Police continue investigation of counterfeit bills used in Darien

Police are investigating the use of counterfeit bills in downtown Darien for the second time in the past month following reports from two businesses on Post Road.

According to police a group of three black men used six counterfeit $50 bills at Gofer Ice Cream and the restaurant 1020 Post during the afternoon of Nov. 30. The men used the bills for small individual purchases at each business and received change for their fake cash.

As in all cases involving counterfeit bills the United States Secret Service was notified, and the investigation is still ongoing.
