Yes, we’re ready for the changes of fall.

And, at our house, the fall makes us think about movies.

Here are a few to check out this weekend on broadcast and cable television stations.

Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Tom Hanks makes us proud to honor those who served during World War II in this Oscar-winning epic from director Steven Spielberg.

8 p.m. BBC


Legally Blonde

Reese Witherspoon teases us with her comic turn as a bright-eyed student who sasses her way through Harvard Law School.

9 p.m. Bravo


Some Like it Hot (1959)

Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe tickle us in this classic comedy from moviemaker Billy Wilder. Oscar, how did you miss honoring this one?

Joel Edgerton and Chris Pratt in Zero Dark Thirty.

Zero Dark Thirty (2012)

Director Kathryn Bigelow, who made us think this summer with the film Detroit, impresses us with American ingenuity in this recreation of the hunt for Osama Bin Laden.

Russell Crowe reminds us of all those epics about the Roman Empire with this vivid recreation of such glory days at the movies from director Ridley Scott.

Bound for Glory (1976)

David Carradine invites us to sing along in this biopic of folksinger Woody Guthrie that was Oscar nominated for an Oscar as Best Picture.

Goodfellas (1990)

Director Martin Scorcese entertains us any time he makes a movie about organized crime. This time, Joe Pesci won an Oscar for his stirring supporting turn.

Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd star in De-Lovely.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

Meryl Streep frightens us with her eover-the-top creation of an over-the-top executive in this comedy about manners, mannerisms and mannequins.

Twister (1996)

Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt cautions us to look for clear skies in this tribute to people who chase dramatic storms.
