Skeats first at first mountain meet


RAINBOW RIDERS — Darien girls ski team on top of the rainbow at Mount Southington before first race.


The Wave started the season strong on Jan 4, with the boys going 3-1 and the girls going 3-0 on the mountain.

“It is great to see these results the first race of the season,” coach Brian Zeyer said. “Our two returning captains led the team this race. We have a nice balance of younger skiers and older.”

The girls team had five in the top 20 out of 102 varsity racers.

Captain Maggie Skeats was first (47.05), Lane Anderson sixth (48.18), Sammy Lindell 13th (49.94), Devin Hart 16th (50.09), captain Carly Schoudel 18th (50.53).

The boys top finishers out of 103 varsity racers were captain Brooks Daley in third (44.29), John Fallon 16th (47.24) and Connor Lajaunie 26th (48.27).
