On Thursday, April 4, from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m., The Depot will offer a parent talk on sex education for parents and caregivers.
Many parents and caregivers need assistance to build their comfort and skill level to open and maintain positive communication with the children in their lives, and they aren’t always comfortable providing that information. As the primary sexuality educator of those children it’s important to remember that communication about sexuality is an ongoing process that can support their health. Participants will learn ways to increase open honest, age-appropriate and balanced talk about sexuality.
Participants will identify the importance of their role and the level of their influence as sexuality educators, identify messages their parents gave them about sexuality and the impact of those messages on their sexual health, identify responses they could offer to teen comments/conversation openers, and list some books and websites for resources.
