SNOW DAY: Catch up on #Darien power outages, road closures from Darien Police

Darien, like much of the tristate, closed schools Monday as several inches of snow fell over night. Despite that, some residents report the “great job” by Darien’s public works and say much of the main roads are clear.

Heavy snow snapped some power poles and lines, however, leaving 193, or 2.4% of Eversource customers without power as of 9:30 a.m.

Darien Police report the following blocked roads due to downed trees or wires: Deepwood Lane, East Lane, Driftway Lane, Pembroke Road, Peach Hill Road, Great Hill Road, Heights Road and Tower Drive, according to Lt. Jeremiah Marron.

The light at the intersection of Noroton Avenue and Middlesex Road is currently without power so stop signs have been put in place. Darien Library is scheduled to open at 12, and Darien’s Town Hall is scheduled to open at 10:30. Send us your openings and closings, and your snow photos to editor@darientimes.com.
