Snow, sleet and freezing rain predicted for area Sunday night into Monday morning

A winter weather advisory is in effect for southern Connecticut, southeast New York and northeast New Jersey from 9 p.m. Sunday night through 10 a.m. Monday morning. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze expected.

Monday is Presidents’ Day with many off from school and work, so the snow might not have too much of an impact on commutes. Darien schools are off for February recess this week.

Plan on slippery road conditions. A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. Snow and freezing rain are also predicted later in the week on Wednesday and Thursday.

Localized minor coastal flooding is possible Monday morning for vulnerable coastal areas along the Long Island Sound during the morning high tide cycle.
