Letter: Stevenson, Wood say first community conversation was a success

To the Editor:

This past Saturday morning we launched a series of community conversations, “Bring it Home.”  An enthusiastic crowd from across the political spectrum came by Caffe Nero to hear about the latest municipal news in Darien and state level legislative initiatives. Even more important than passing along news, however was to hear the thoughts, questions and concerns from residents regarding these issues.

It was a robust conversation touching on many subjects ranging from local budgets to bills that would regionalize school districts and levy a statewide property tax. We are deeply grateful for the interest in and intelligent dialogue about these critical issues facing our town and state.

Thank you to everyone who took time on a Saturday morning to attend. In addition, thanks and a warm welcome to Darien’s newest business, Caffe Nero for hosting us.

Our next “Bring it Home” will be Saturday, Feb.  23 at 9 a.m., location TBA.  In the meantime, please keep in touch with either one of us with your thoughts. JStevenson@darienct.gov and Terrie.Wood@cga.ct.gov. A vibrant democracy rests on open dialogue, and hearing from you on critical issues is important to us.
