Consuelo Meloy Nussbaum, 91, died peacefully December 4, 2018 at Edgehill in Stamford, CT.
The daughter of Thomas and Claire (Libby) Meloy, she was born February 8, 1927, in Bronxville, New York. She graduated from Bronxville High School in 1944, Smith College in 1948 and received her master’s degree in sociology from Columbia University in 1950.
Consuelo “Connie” began a career in research at NBC-TV, then moved to the Radio-TV Research Department at McCann-Erickson, and later, BBDO. In 1954, she married John S. Nussbaum and eventually settled in Darien, CT, where she lived for fifty-three years with her husband who predeceased her in 1998. After raising two children, she continued her career in consumer research, principally at General Electric in Bridgeport, CT, in their Housewares and Audio Business Division.
A past President of both the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum and the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, she was an active local volunteer and lifelong blood donor to the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien and the Eastward Ho Golf Club on Cape Cod, where she resided in Orleans, MA.
She is survived by her daughter, Lise O’Haire, and her husband, Tony O’Haire, of Atlanta, GA, her son, John S. Nussbaum Jr., of Greenwich, CT, and her granddaughters, Marguerite E. O’Haire and her husband, Mitchell Zischke, of West Lafayette, IN, Chelsea C. O’Haire of Newport Beach, CA, and McCrea M. O’Haire of Atlanta, GA.
