Cops investigate another stolen catalytic converter in Darien

Police are investigating the reported theft of a catalytic converter, valued at $1,600, from a vehicle while it was parked at the corner of Heights Road and Edgerton Street. This is another in a series of catalytic converters from parked cars. Previously it has occurred in the Corbin building lot and behind Darien Sport Shop. 

On Oct. 30, police said officers were dispatched to a vehicle mechanic shop at 179 Noroton Avenue in regard to the reported theft. The complainant told police he parked his vehicle, a 2003 Honda Element, in a lot at the corner of Heights Road and Edgerton Street about 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 29. At 10:30 p.m. that same day, the owner returned to the vehicle and stated that once started, his vehicle was making a loud noise. The owner then drove the vehicle to a mechanic on Noroton Avenue to have the noise diagnosed. Police said the mechanic, Immediately upon inspecting the vehicle, told the owner that the catalytic converter had been cut from the vehicle.
