Officers responded to the area of the Sugar Bowl at 1033 Post Road on Oct. 8 at 5 a.m. on the report of a subject in a white van illegally siphoning used cooking oil from the drums located behind the businesses there.
The complainant stated that he had just arrived at work at 5 a.m. to open the business when he observed the white van that backed into the alley behind the businesses. The complainant stated that upon approaching the subject operating the van he replied that he had “been contracted” to remove the oil from the barrels. Knowing this was not true, the complainant contacted the police. The vehicle had fled the scene prior to an officer’s arrival.
The complainant stated that the value of the stolen cooking oil was approximately $100.
