Postponed: Saturday’s Hoyt Street closure postponed a week due to predicted rain

The area highlighted in orange is the closure scheduled on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until midnight — Darien Police advise patience and avoiding the area if possible.

UPDATE: Hoyt Street natural gas work scheduled for Saturday has been postponed to Aug. 25 after rain is predicted.

Darien Police are advising residents that Hoyt Street (State Route 106) will be closed to all through traffic between Camp Ave. and Woodway Road between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and midnight. This closure is required to facilitate the installation of natural gas main related equipment being installed by Eversource Energy; a complete roadway closure is required for this time period.

In cooperation with the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation and the City of Stamford, an approved detour has been set up to route motorists around the work zone. The detour will utilize Camp Ave, Woodway Road and Hope Street and will be clearly posted to assist motorists.  Residents of Hoyt Street, Greenwood Avenue, Wakemore Street and Kensett Lane within the affected area will maintain access to their homes but may experience short delays or alternating access points as the workday progresses.

Darien Police and traffic agents will be assigned to this project to assist with facilitating safe and orderly traffic flow around the affected areas.

Darien Police ask that all motorists plan trips in/around the affected area accordingly and consider alternate routes if possible.

Further traffic advisories and updates will be issued as required. Traffic related questions concerning this project can be directed to Administrative Services Captain Don Anderson at (203) 662-5312 or via email at [email protected]
