Darien’s Caroline Dunleavy will be playing in the CT Open singles qualifiers in New Haven on Friday, Aug 17. She will also be playing in a doubles exhibition match at the 7 p.m. evening session next Monday, Aug. 20, with pros, James Blake and Lindsay Davenport.
Caroline, a graduate of Greenwich Academy, recently transferred to Yale from the University of Notre Dame, which was announced formally by the school via press release.
“On the heels of welcoming their nationally ranked Class of 2022, the Yale women’s tennis team announced the addition of transfer student Caroline Dunleavy, a rising sophomore who will join Samantha Martinelli, Lauren Gillinov and Sarah Cameron as the team’s representatives from the Class of 2021,” they wrote.
“She excelled both on the court and off of it during her time at Notre Dame, making the dean’s list during her first semester while also reaching the quarterfinals of the ITA Midwest Regional in the fall. Coming out of high school, Dunleavy was a blue chip recruit and the No. 1 ranked prospect in all of New England, ranking as high as No. 29 nationally during her senior year,” the Yale tennis team said.
“The future Bulldog also has experience on the world’s highest level, earning her first three WTA singles points and achieving a WTA ranking of 1207 in 2017 after a win over a top 400 WTA player. She also earned her first WTA doubles points at an event in Heraklion, Greece during the 2016 season,” they said.
“Yale’s supportive environment, both in academics and tennis, fosters learning and growth. At Yale, I can become the best version of myself academically while I also strive to reach my full potential on the court,” Caroline said.
