The Department of Human Services will be holding its annual Back-to-School Program from Aug. 13 through Aug. 31. The program helps eligible Darien school children get off to a good start with backpacks, school supplies and gift certificates for shoes or sneakers and is free to eligible Darien residents.
In particular need are new, large backpacks in blue or black. Large backpacks are currently on sale at Costco for $15.99. Some supplies have been ordered but other items like 1 ½-inch binders, Post Its, index cards, highlighters, and mechanical pencils would be appreciated for donation.
The Back-to-School Program is one of the many services that the Department of Human Services provides to the residents of Darien. If you’re interested in donating, contact the human services department in Town Hall, Room 109, Town Hall
