The Darien Board of Education recently appointed Paul Ribeiro as assistant principal of Darien High School. Ribeiro will replace Jacob Greenwood, who was recently appointed as principal of Masuk High School.
Ribeiro received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the NEAG School of Education at the University of Connecticut. He received his Sixth Year Degree in School Counseling from the NEAG School and his administrative certification from Sacred Heart University.
Ribeiro began his career as a social studies teacher at Joel Barlow High School in Redding before moving to William Hall High School in West Hartford, Connecticut as a School Counselor in 2004. He was hired as the Darien High School Director of Guidance in 2009 and has served in that position until his appointment as assistant principal.
Ribeiro was selected as the assistant principal of Darien High School after a nationwide search and a review of more than 200 applicants. Ellen Dunn, Principal of Darien High School cited Ribeiro’s numerous accomplishments in his current role, his passion for education, his love of students and the connections he has already made with students, parents and staff at DHS as the most important reasons for being the choice as the new assistant principal. Under Ribeiro’s leadership, the counseling department at Darien High School was named as the Outstanding Comprehensive School Counseling Program in 2016 by the Connecticut School Counselor Association.
After being appointed, Ribeiro stated, “Thank you to the Board of Education for this exciting opportunity. I am grateful for the time I have spent working with our outstanding counseling department in the service of our students and families as it has prepared me to expand my role within the Darien High School community.”
A search for Mr. Ribeiro’s replacement has already begun.
