Six Darien players are boys lacrosse All-Americans; McGovern named Player of the Year (slideshow)

The Darien boys lacrosse team dominated the state’s All-Americans roll call this spring, as six Blue Wave players across the field earned the high honors.

As a conference, the FCIAC took 12 of the 16 All-American spots, with Darien representing half of the league’s total.

Senior co-captain Logan McGovern, an attacker, was named the Connecticut Player of the Year to lead the Wave honorees.

Also on attack, senior co-captain Brian Minicus earned an All-American nod.

Darien’s All-American midfielders are senior co-captain Blake Sommi and senior Jack Joyce, on defense is senior co-captain Andrew Darby, and at goalie is senior Sean Collins.

All six of those players, along with senior MF/FOGO Tanner Strub were also named to the All-State Class L First Team, with senior defenseman Matt Guld, and senior long stick middie Charlie Olsen earning spots on the All-State Second Team
