iPhones ordered online by Darien resident stolen in transit

A Brookside Drive resident told police that two iPhone7s phones ordered to his home had been stolen in the course of delivery. The victim told police he received a text from UPS at 1:48 p.m. on May 29 reporting that the phones had been delivered. His children returned home from school at 2:36 p.m. and retrieved the package, only to find that it had been tampered with. The packing tape on the box had been cut and only bubble wrap and charging cables were left inside.

The victim called the company he ordered the phones from, which confirmed the phones had been shipped properly and the shipping label had been placed over the packing tape. An employee suggested the victim file a police report and contact the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office, as the phones appeared to be stolen during transit. Police are continuing their investigation.
