Updated 4pm — It’s official: Wave plays Greenwich in Class LL state final now at 10am, instead (sic) of 11am Saturday at Boyle Stadium in Stamford.
And it’s kind of odd; as in unlike the others: this is the only state final game not postponed from the day of the forecast storm, expected to start at about kick-off — “mainly after 10am” according to reports — and to potentially drop a half-foot of snow.
But, the distances required for travel to the Class LL game are shorter than the others, so maybe it’s thought people can always, walk? Hopefully it’s just a dusting, though. So time will tell with more than the score for this one, with one happy side of the stands maybe caroling its way back home.

Here is the announcement sent in an email from the CIAC as promised early this afternoon:
CHESHIRE, Conn. – Due to the forecast of inclement winter weather the
CIAC has made the following changes to the four football championship games
scheduled for Saturday, December 9.
• The start time for the Class LL championship between Greenwich and
Darien at Boyle Stadium in Stamford has been moved to 10 a.m. from the
original time of 11 a.m.
• The Class M championship between Killingly and Joel Barlow originally
scheduled for 3 p.m. at Veterans Stadium in New Britain has been
rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 11.
• The Class L championship games between Daniel Hand and Masuk and Class
S final between Ansonia and St. Joseph originally scheduled for 11 a.m. at
Veterans Stadium and West Haven High School respectively have been
postponed for sites and dates to be determined.
CIAC is exploring all potential available sites and working to finalize the
schedule as soon as possible and will release the updated schedule when it

After working with available sites and considering the
weather forecasts for both the weekend and long range, the CIAC has made
the following changes to the CIAC football championship schedule.
• The Class LL championship between Greenwich and Darien will be played

CIAC determined the updated schedule while considering appropriate and
available sites, weather forecasts and requests from school districts
indicating they were uncomfortable competing and traveling on Saturday
given the weather forecast.
