Noroton Heights Fire Dept. wins Heroes’ Bowl

Both Noroton Heights Fire Dept. and Darien FD teams enjoy time with a fireman and his truck following the title game.

YOUTH FOOTBALL

Noroton Heights won the 2nd-3rd grade Flag Heroes Bowl 6-0 recently.

On the play of the game, Liam Brady scored the only TD on a 25 yard run in the fourth quarter, which started as a quarterback sweep right.

When the Darien Fire Dept. strong defense converged in the backfield, Brady reversed field and scampered up the left sideline for the score.

The score was made possible by some key downfield blocks by Declan Keating and Henry Johnson.

On the defensive side of the ball, Noroton Heights was in shut-down mode all game with key plays from Brendan McCarthy, Rodrigo Miranda, Vinicius Miranda and Gavin Wheeler.

Joe Roche, Wade Persinger and Kyler Marshall all contributed with key blocks in the trenches.

The highlights for the Darien Fire Department included a perfectly timed downfield pass from Sean Mihopoulos to Tanner Hennemuth, with Carter Marisca and Nick Rachinsky leading the charge on the defensive side of the ball.

Seastreak wins

Seastreak earned a hard-fought victory 8-0 over the Darien Police in a Darien Junior Football League 2-3rd Grade Flag Division game.

Seastreak’s Matthew Prichard ran a long sweep for the game’s only touchdown and also added the two point conversion.

It was a great defensive battle on both sides with Aidan McCormack and Phillip Bishai starring for Seastreak.

The Darien Police defense was led by Colin Anderson and Kirk Zarghami.

Luke Gallagher intercepted a pass and nearly broke free for a Darien Police score.
