Darien Nature Center picks owl name winner

Four-year-old Grace Handy of Darien chose the winning name, Luna, for the Darien Nature Center’s new screech owl.

Darien’s Grace Handy, age 4, has picked the winning name for the Darien Nature Center’s new screech owl. “Luna” came to the nature center from the  Delaware Valley Raptor Center in Pennsylvania with a vision impairment. Owls are difficult to sex and age, so they are not sure if it is male or female or how old it is. The naming contest is ended Aug. 5 and Grace’s suggestion, Luna, was picked out of 48 participants.
