The Darien Times has been pleased to welcome two Darien High School senior interns, Claire Borecki and Kelly Moran, through the school’s senior internship program this spring.
This has been the fourth year that The Darien Times has participated in the program, welcoming students of various interests and backgrounds.
Throughout their internship, Claire and Kelly have been hands on in the production of The Darien Times, including reporting, writing and proofreading on deadline day. Last week they attended the editorial coffee at The Sugar Bowl.
Claire is a senior at Darien High School. She has lived in Darien for her entire life with her parents and triplet siblings. She writes for the school paper, Neirad, and enjoys advocacy and local politics. She is involved with Darien High School’s Theatre 308 and Authentic Science Research Program, and works at Darien Mathnasium. She will be attending Colby College in Waterville Maine this fall to study English. Claire has written several stories for The Darien Times during her high school years, covering some controversial topics including Title IX compliance, a teen’s view of 13 Reasons Why, and the financial struggle of less than wealthy students in a wealthy town.
Kelly is a member of the Garden Club, SOS (Support our Soldiers) Club, and Link Leader. She lives in Darien with parents, Chris and Kathie, and her two older sisters, Katie and Kristen, both Darien High grads. Katie attends Vanderbilt and Kristen attends Tufts.
Kelly will attend Santa Clara University in the fall where she intends to major in English, and study journalism, law and music.
The two will graduate with the Class of 2017 on Friday evening.
