Public Works: Portions of Center Street north lot closed through mid-May for rehab work

The Town of Darien will be repairing curbing and catch basins, replacing lighting, and, milling and repaving the town owned portion of the Center Street North Parking Lot from Monday, April 3 through Friday, May 12, according to Darien’s Public Works Department. All vehicles must be removed from the parking area during construction.

The Center Street lot north is between CVS lot and Tokeneke Road, near the Dock Shop.

Work will take place in phases so that a portion of the parking lot is available for use, except for two-days when paving will take place and the entire parking lot will be unavailable. Residents and business owners may use Center Street South, on street marked parking spaces on Old Kings Highway South, or spaces along the railroad tracks on Tokeneke Road on days that any portion of the parking lot is out of service, without being ticketed.

Work will be performed during the daytime hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  on all days. Preparatory work will precede paving in the parking lot area. Dates listed above include milling and paving. Driving surfaces will be gravel in places during these dates. Residents should  avoid this parking area if possible during these times or use extra caution during these dates. Residents’ vehicles will be towed if parked in an area specifically marked as closed during the dates and times above.

The above schedule is based on favorable weather conditions. Access will be limited during paving operations. Please plan your parking needs accordingly. Please call the Department of Public Works at 656-7346 if questions.
