The Connecticut Department of Transportation will begin work on Bridge No.00047 Old Kings Highway north over I-95 on April 1.
The project, according to the DOT, includes the complete replacement of the bridge super structure.
According to Captain Don Anderson of the Darien Police Department, the DPD will issue a traffic advisory when the project will affect local Darien streets. The DOT has not yet notified the department of when that could happen other than “this construction season,” Anderson said.
“There will be a posted detour on Old King’s Highway north for some significant time during this project, again however, the specific timing is not yet known.  In addition, there will be 8 to 10 complete evening/overnight closures of OKHN in the area of the bridge during the course of project as they set prefabricated sections of the new bridge into place,” Anderson said, nothing the night closures would not be in succession.
Anderson said the police will send out a traffic advisory as soon as they receive more details from the DOT.
