New Haven man arrested for DUI near I-95

Darien police arrested a New Haven resident for driving with a suspended license and driving while under the influence on March 17. An officer on patrol on Post Road near Richmond drive saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling on the wrong side of the median near I-95 Exit 13. The officer stopped the vehicle near the highway’s entrance just before 2 a.m..
The driver, Jorge Herrera-Vasquez, 28, was identified with an international driver’s license. A Spanish speaking officer was brought to the scene to speak with Herrera-Vasquez, who allegedly showed signs of intoxication. He was asked to submit to field sobriety tests, but was unable to complete them to an acceptable standard. Herrera-Vasquez was arrested and processed at Darien Police Department.
Breathalyzer tests showed blood alcohol levels of .1701 and .1686. Herrera-Vasquez was released on $250 bond and is due in court on March 27.
