Darien High career club students win at state competition

 

On Monday, March 13, 67 Darien High students competed at the Connecticut State Competition of over 1,000 Connecticut students.

The DECA Club at Darien High School is in their fourth year as a club with 115 student members. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the world. On Monday, March 13, 67 Darien High students competed at the Connecticut State Competition of over 1,000 Connecticut students.   Eighteen Darien High School students placed in the top six of their business events:
First place: Nadia Czebiniak — food marketing series; Paul Hager — restaurant and food service management series; Erik Ryan — quick serve restaurant management series
Second place: Casey Martin — business finance series
Third place:  Brendan Berrigan — accounting applications series; Griffin Samroengraja — personal financial literacy; Owen Stevens — hospitality and tourism professional selling; Rory Washecka — principles of finance;
Mila Escajadillo — business services marketing series; Ria Dhull and Nina Rodriguez — financial series team decision making.
Fourth place: Connor Darby — business services marketing; Ben Bidell and AJ Scolaro — marketing management team decision management
Fifth place: Spencer Hillman — marketing communication series                             
Sixth place: Corrine Bevill and Lauren Larizza — travel and tourism team decision making; Sean Huffert — principles of finance
