Police: Sixteen-year-old issued infraction for underage drinking party

A 16-year-old Darien resident was referred to juvenile court for permitting minors to use alcohol during a Feb. 20 party.
Police received an anonymous tip about the party via their online tip service and responded to a Richmond drive home at about 10:30 p.m. A group of youths in front of the property fled upon seeing the police and officers observed several empty beer cases, cans and plastic cups inside the house through a front window.
The party’s host answered the door and admitted to the drinking at the scene. He told police he did not purchase or provide the alcohol, but others had brought it with them. Inside the officers found more evidence of the party, along with more underage drinkers. Their parents were notified and they were released. The case has been referred to the police department’s youth division
