Nancy Van Anden Lawson, 91, of Naples, FL and Orleans, MA passed away at Moorings Park in Naples on July 4, 2015. She was born in Beacon, NY on April 23, 1924 to Roxie and Charles Reginald Van Anden. She grew up in Scarsdale, NY, went to the Masters School at Dobbs Ferry, Briarcliff Jr College, and spent summers at their family home on the Hudson River in New Hamburg, NY.
Nancy married James Thomas (Tom) Lawson in 1948 and raised three daughters, ultimately settling in New Canaan, CT in 1965. They were members of the WeeBurn Country Club of Darien, the Moorings Country Club and the Royal Poinciana Club in Naples, and The Naples Yacht Club. She was also a member of the Stamford Norwalk Junior League, the League Club of Naples, and was an avid supporter of the Naples Philharmonic.
Nancy is survived by her brother, Charles R. Van Anden Jr. and his wife, Lee, of Dataw Island, SC; a sister-in-law, Rev. Rosemary L. Peters of Halifax , MA; her three daughters and their spouses, Sally and Job Taylor of Orleans, MA, Mardi and George Trendle of Essex Junction, VT and Carolyn and John Otis of Chatham, MA; as well as her six grandchildren, Whitney, JT, Cassie, Alexandra, Ben and Carter. She was predeceased by her husband.
A memorial service will be held at St Christopher’s Church in Chatham, MA on Thursday, August 20th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moorings Park Employee Scholarship Fund in Naples, FL. For online condolences, please visit fullernaples.com.
