On Wednesday, Dec. 17, Mrs. Marie Principia Forlenzo died at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
For the past two years she resided in Milford, with her son and daughter-in-law. Before that, Mrs. Forlenzo lived in Darien, from 1967 where she and her late husband of 53 years raised six children.
After graduating from Greenwich High School, Mrs. Forlenzo attended Saint Vincent’s School of Nursing in Bridgeport, where she later became a licensed practical nurse. Mrs. Forlenzo spent the first few years of her career working in a hospital but the majority of her working years in geriatric nursing. She was widely known for her warm personality and her caring bedside manner, her family said. Mrs. Forlenzo particularly cherished the friendships she made during her years employed by Courtland Gardens Health Center and Homestead Healthcare Center in Stamford.
Mrs. Forlenzo was a devoted wife and mother to all her children and grandchildren. She treasured every shared moment and embraced every family member unconditionally until the very end of her life. All of Marie’s relatives will miss her dearly.
Marie is survived by two sons, Chris Forlenzo of Milford and Mark Forlenzo of Newtown; two daughters, Donna Savage of Wilton and Susan Forlenzo-Dwyer of Colorado; one sister Teresa Glionna of Norwalk; eleven grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Philip Frank Forlenzo Sr., one son, Philip Frank Forlenzo Jr. and one daughter, Lisa Forlenzo-Schulke.
