Obituary: Rose Marie Buchetto

Long-time Stamford resident, mother, grandmother of Darien residents

Rose Marie Buchetto, 91, passed into eternal rest peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. A lifelong resident of Stamford, born on April 29, 1922 to the late Vito and Adelaide Nico. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband Jerry Buchetto in 1987.

Rose graduated Stamford High School ,Class of 1940 and worked at Conde Nast Publications for 18 years. Rose then went to Hilti International as the Assistant to the V.P. of Human Resources for 18 years, and then to The Stamford Hospital as Assistant to the V.P. of Human Resources for another 17 years. Rose was a recent recipient of a medal for her membership and devotion for sixty years with Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Mary 82. She was also a member of the Professional Secretary Association. Rose was a volunteer for many years at the local nursing homes until the age of 84. She retired at 71 years of age to enjoy her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, making the most of her time shared with them all.

Rose is survived by her son Robert and his wife Linda Buchetto, daughter Geri and her husband Rocky Genovese, grandsons Robert and Rocky Buchetto, David Genovese and his wife Julie, granddaughter Gerri Vogel, and her seven great grandchildren, Christian, Bianca, Lily, Sean, Ryan, Annie and Sarah. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive and she will be greatly missed.

Besides her parents and husband Rose is predeceased by her sister Mae Bonano.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on April 29 at St. John RC Church, 1986 Post Rd., Darien, CT 06820. Interment  follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford, CT.
