Noroton Avenue remains closed, could be back by 6 p.m.

UPDATE, Friday, April 26: The traffic light was restored on Thursday evening and the intersection is open.

The traffic lights @ Noroton Ave & Heights Rd have been repaired and re-hung. The intersection is now open. Thanks for your patience.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: The Noroton Avenue traffic light is expected to be energized by 6 p.m. Thursday. Police indicated, however, that it still might be more time before it’s fully functional as tests need to be run.

A Noroton Avenue traffic light fell shortly before 5:30 a.m. Thursday according Darren Oustafine, assistant director of the town’s Public Works Department, closing the busy road as an electrician makes repairs.

A support cable broke on the light, Oustafine said. The traffic light electrician was dispatched immediately. There is no current estimate on when the road is expected to reopen but the electrician is making progress, he said.
