At Depot: Get free smoke or carbon monoxide detectors

Come check out the The Depot, Darien’s teen center, and get a free smoke or carbon monoxide detector on Saturday.

Cops & Kids Adventures Program will be handing out free detectors to the public this Saturday, March 2 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Firemen will be on hand to answer questions, and hot chocolate and cookies will also be available.

Smoke detectors were donated by Kidde, The Darien Firefighters Foundation, and Abercrombie, Burns, McKiernan & Company Insurance

Firefighters and the fire marshal will be on hand to answer questions that anyone may have about the detectors or fire safety in the home.

If you are unable to install the detectors the fire marshal will make arrangements with you to have them installed.

Cops & Kids Adventures was formed by The Depot Youth Center and Darien Police Department and is funded by a grant written by Traffic Officer T. Court Isaac of the Darien Police Department. The grant is provided by Connecticut’s Office of Policy and Management, which provides opportunities for police and youth to team up for activities and community projects. The Depot is at 45 Heights Road.
