Board of ed agenda: School security, enrollment, budget and more

The Board of Education will discuss several key topics at its Tuesday, Feb. 12 meeting, including school security, kindergarten enrollment, Common Core implementation, and the 2013-14 budget.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at 2 Renshaw Road.

The Board is expected to present and approve its own version of next year’s district budget. This item will be discussed last, at approximately 9 p.m.

Dr. Judith Pandolfo, assistant superintendent for elementary education, is scheduled to present an update on the district’s kindergarten enrollment, which  concluded at the schools on Monday, Feb. 4.

As required by state law, approved last May, the district must submit its annual financial reports to the state department of education. Dick Huot, finance director, will present to the board.

Superintendent Dr. Stephen Falcone will share security reccomendations discussed by the board and district administration in executive sessions, which are closed to the public.

Other items include discussion and possible approval of gifts from a lacrosse fundraiser, and Darien High School Parents’ Association.
