It was tied after two, but Darien’s 55-shot barrage broke the dam in the end in its 4-2 win over Greenwich at Hamill on Wednesday.

Junior captain Shannon Hall stopped eight shots in the Girls Wave Hockey cage.

Marissa Baker, Allegra Molkenthin, Ellie Bennett and Julia Arrix had the Wave goals with Bennett netting the winner in the second.

Darien improves to 12-2-1 overall and 8-1 in the FCIAC where it is in second, two points behind No. 1 New Canaan.

The Cardinals (7-8, 6-4) are in fourth.

Baker gave Darien a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the first period.

Two minutes later Greenwich made it 1-1.

Molkenthin put Darien on top 2-1, assisted by Lily Christensen, but the hosts tied it back up and the teams went into the second period at 2-2.

Bennett had the 3-2 winner unassisted in the second period.

Arrix made it 4-2 with 2:30 on the clock in the third, from Georgia Cassidy and Christensen.
