CT Chargers light it up in Maryland

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the girls CT Chargers 2015 lacrosse team went to Maryland on Nov. 3-4 to compete in two prestigious tournaments.

The CT Chargers is a club team whose players are mostly from Fairfield County, with 10 girls from Darien.

They include: Julia Arrix, Caroline Benitez, Claire Billeter, Elizabeth Fucigna, Lilly Gregory, Daniela Dunn, Mariah Matheis, Anna Moorhead, Samantha Nielsen and Izzy Scribano.


Chargers get a pep talk before a game at the U.S. Naval Academy.

The first stop was the Prime Time Recruiting Showcase in Bel Air, MD.

Out of the four games played, the CT Chargers won three.

They were defeated only by one of the best 2015 girls lacrosse teams in the country.

Next they traveled to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD to play in the Rivalry Challenge, where they won all four of their games.

According to coaches Kim Pepe and Stephanie Calabrese, the girls all showed poise, maturity and passion and it shined through in every game.

The players put CT Chargers on the map as one of the top contenders at tournaments.

The team went on to compete in the President’s Cup Tournament in Naples, Florida.
