Missing elderly woman located in Hartford

Darien Police have canceled a silver alert issued Wednesday night for an elderly woman who was reported missing by family after she was located in Hartford.

Laurie S. Reed, who was reported missing yesterday, has been located.  Shortly before 7 a.m., the Connecticut State Police located Laurie Reed in her vehicle in Hartford on Route 9 near an exit ramp.  Mrs. Reed, who suffers from Dementia, was unharmed and will be reunited with her family.

Reed, an Ohio resident who is visiting family in Darien, had been missing for approximately 17 hours after she took a family member’s vehicle yesterday afternoon.  The Silver Alert that was issued yesterday evening is now canceled.  The Silver Alert System notifies law enforcement officials and media outlets throughout Connecticut and surrounding states when someone with cognitive impairments is missing.
