More than any in CT: Wave divers stock top 20 at open meet

Ashcraft, Pech go 8-9, Klein 13th and Piazza 18th to help boost team’s chances against Greenwich at Yale on Saturday

Darien divers scored high at phase one of the state open meet, with more divers in the top 20 than any other school, at Plainville High on Friday.

Senior Caroline Ashcraft came in eighth with 377 points to lead the Wave, which now tries for its first state open title with the swimming portion of the championships at Yale noon on Saturday.

Sophomore Kyla Pech was ninth with 334 points.

Molly Klein, a junior, finished 13th with 318.80 points.

And junior Olivia Piazza scored 311.55 for 18th place.

Darien divers spot the swimmers lots of points in this one in the team’s pending battle for the state open title with main rival Greenwich.
